3 BOOKS I HIGHLIGHTED TF OUT OF!

‘The Tools 5 Tools to Help You Find Courage, Creativity, and Willpower--and Inspire You to Live Life in Forward Motion’ by Phil Stutz & Barry Michels
I read this one when I was adding tabs to books and tabs are damn near on all the pages.
A favorite takeaway - THE UNIVERSE GIVES US PROBLEMS TO HELP US EVOLVE.
Here’s an exercise Phil & Barry give us:
“First, think of the problem as a random hardship, occurring in an unthinking universe that doesn’t care about you or your evolution. How does that feel?
Now, think of the same problem as a challenge posed by a universe that wants you to evolve and KNOWS THAT YOU CAN. How does that feel?” (page 248)
“Personal problems drive the evolution of the individual.”
Choosing one takeaway is sooooo hard. Know this is one of MANY!
“Let go of your tendency to make snap judgments. Open your mind to seeing people in a new light.”
Each person you meet is like an undiscovered country…
As part of this attitude, you are giving people the same level of indulgence that you give yourself.
When we make a mistake, we attribute it to the circumstances that pushed us into doing it.
But when others make a mistake, we tend to see it as a character flaw, or something that flowed from their imperfect personality.
This is attribution bias. You must work against this.” (page 50)
“Give people the same benefit of the doubt as you give yourself” [paraphrased]
‘Someday Is Today’ by Matthew Dicks
“Remind yourself of your BADASSERY!”
“As human beings, we so often climb enormous mountains of struggle and strife, reach the summit, but never bother to look back and admire our journey.
You must view your life story as a journey - an adventure - worthy of investment, excitement, and continuous FORWARD MOVEMENT.
Rather than looking at your life through the small lens of immediate moment or an ominous future, you must expand your view to all that came before.
Take credit for your achievements. See these days that you live as scenes in a GREATER STORY…..” (pages 225-231)
“Our brains are listening to us for clues about who we are, how we feel, and how we are doing. If we speak kindly and generously to ourselves - aloud - our brains will hear that and respond accordingly.”
