On Time | Never Too Late To Take Baby Steps | What Are You Tolerating
*this issue was one of the most viewed in 2023
I am running this issue back. It will be a reminder for those who have been here and new to those who joined later in the year.
I am BEYOND GRATEFUL that you choose to spend your time reading this newsletter.
I am looking forward to a new year full of learning, challenging myself, growing, and pushing the mutha*****n limits.
I want to use all God gave me - Ya HEARD!?!?
2024 here we come!

TRIED IT - factoring in / remembering ALL ‘travel time’ in order to be on time.
It takes me about 5 minutes to get from my front door to my car. It take another 2 minutes to get out of the parking garage.
If I think to myself, oh it only takes 10 minutes to get to ‘xyz’ - I MUST add 7 minutes.
We don’t always do that. As they say, let’s normalize factoring in ALL travel time!
TIP: If you wanna get fancy with it, use your calendar app and set an alert to remind you to LEAVE 5 minutes before ‘travel time’.
iPhone default calendar app has ‘travel time’ + ‘alert’
Do you use this feature? Do you plan for the extra time?
READ IT - While researching various Black women, I read an article about Pearl Bailey - entertainer / singer.
She dropped out of school at 15 to start her career as a singer/dancer
BUT! this is what I loved - in her 60s she enrolled in college (Georgetown University) and got a degree in theology at 67!
It took her seven years to complete and then she wrote this book to talk about her experience in higher education. You can see her chat about it here.
another reminder - NEVER TOO LATE to
try something new
learn
go after a dream
“Go for it honey!” - Pearl Bailey
QUOTE I’M LOVING - ‘Examine what you are tolerating’ - around 2001-ish I was into life coaching. Part of the training / certification involved making a list of all the things I was tolerating.
Specifically, small things that nag at us constantly. Some examples:
the lightbulb that’s been out for 3 weeks
the donation bag in the trunk for the last 2 months
replacing the missing button on your favorite jacket
take the art to get framed
‘Examine what you are tolerating’
TAKE ACTION (this week)
1. think about some things you are tolerating
2. make a list
3. start knocking them off the list
I need new light bulb for a lamp and something to stop my table from squeaking.
what are you tolerating?
THAT’S IT Y’ALL - see ya here next Sunday at 3:33p CT
