NEW MONTH - 10 THINGS TO TRY (pick one) | 3 SEPTEMBER 2023
Sally Suggestions | Things discovered in real life and online that you may like too.
LIST MAKERS GONE LIST!
If you know me, you know I love a list.
Check in with your taste buds. If you’ve been saying “I don’t like mushrooms” since you were 15, try them again now that you’re 47. You never know.
Take your city’s public transportation at least once just so you can know what the experience is like.
Where I live (Dallas) people often have negative judgements about it but when they visit New York they think it’s cool.
It’s not without issues, but it is not a terrible thing or a ‘less than’ thing either. Try it.
Set up a "‘study hall date’ with a friend - in person or virtually. You need to do some work, they need to do some work, why not meet up and crank it out or FaceTime/video call each other and get things done together.
Commit to really working versus chatting the time away. Hold each other accountable.
The next time you’re grabbing your favorite coffee, smoothie, etc… pay for the person behind you. No need to tell ‘em, just let them be pleasantly surprised.
Go on a date with the person who isn’t ‘your type’. Dr. Pat Allen talks about giving people 3 dates before you say they are not for you.
You just never know.
Be a beginner at something. What have you been thinking about trying but you told yourself you were too old, it will cost too much, etc etc…. (piano lessons, painting, making tamales, running a 5k….)
Find a way to try it.
Commit to check-in conversations with your partner. Esther Perel talks about this. One question she suggests asking your partner: What is something I used to do that you wish I would start doing again?
Donate the item you’re hanging on to because you spent so much money on it.
Marie Kondo says every time you see it, you’re reminded of the buying mistake.
Forgive yourself for spending the funds and not wearing/using it and pass it on to someone who will enjoy it!
Use the good things! The good towels, the good dishes, the good outfit, on and on. Today is a good day, to use the good thing(s).
I love garage sales and I’ve been to many where the kids (or spouse) are getting rid of the the good things that the loved one never used.Decide, make a plan, and LEAVE! The job, the friendship, the city, the relationship, the business, etc etc…
“Stop acting like you live twice.” - Gary Vaynerchuk
Which one are you choosing? I’d love to know.
