What’s your preferred WAY to read?
Do you like to read actual books?
Do you listen to everything on audible?
Do you only read on a digital device - Kindle?
ME: I read all three ways
Do you have a reading ‘practice’?
Do you read first thing in the morning?
Do you read before bedtime?
You carry a book and read anytime you have a wait?
Do you have family reading time?
ME: I am all over the place on this one. Sometimes I am doing a challenge and will do 10 pages a day or first thing in the morning.
Do you carry a book (magazine/articles) with you at all times?
Is it sinful to be caught without something to read?
ME: It’s the 11th commandment - at all times. Last resort, Kindle app on phone available
How do you make sure you APPLY what you read?
Do you journal about what you learned / what spoke to you?
Do you share it on social media?
Do you share with others in real life?
Do you have rules around it (e.g. start next book after applying at least one thing from last book)?
ME: “When you learn, TEACH…” - Maya Angelou
Do you have reading goals?
Do you set out to read a set number of books per year?
Do you have a set number of pages to read daily? weekly?
ME: My only goal is to read DAILY
WHAT do you read?
Do you read fiction only?
Do you read self-help only?
Do you only read certain authors ( e.g. women, Black, authors from a certain era, etc etc…)?
Are you more of an articles person (e.g. read The Atlantic cover to cover)?
Do you read daily newspapers?
ME: Majority non-fiction, tons of articles - TONS, newspapers when I go to cute coffee shops that have them handy - online other days (I contribute to a few to keep print alive)
Do you read one book at a time or more than one?
ME: SEVERAL!
Do you write and highlight in your books or is that hell, fire, and damnation?
ME: pens, highlighters, and coffee stains
Are you in a bookclub?
Are most of the people in your close circle readers?
ME: I was in a bookclub for 10 years - the closest person to my age was TEN YEARS YOUNGER and I loved every bit of it! Made some lifelong friends.
*they were barely out of college when we started - they got boyfriends, then husbands, then baby one, then baby two, then bookclub was over - lol!
What are you currently reading?
ME: Remember I said SEVERAL books at a time. A couple of em: The Warmth of Other Suns (the actual book) by Isabel Wilkerson and Slow Productivity by Cal Newport (audible)
