*Note-Takers UNITE!
“Think of yourself not just a taker of notes, but as a giver of notes - you are giving your future self the gift of knowledge that is easy to find and understand.” (page 47)
How many times have you wished you had written something down or you struggle to remember something you thought of, seen, heard, etc…..?
Francis Coppola’s Notebook is a documentary that got by me and now I must see it.
He had an entire notebook for The Godfather. “I didn’t need a script because I could have made the movie just from this notebook.” - Francis Ford Coppola (page 115-116)
Stop relying on our biological brains to remember things. Have an external [note-taking] system.
This will free up your brain to ‘absorb and integrate new knowledge in more creative ways’. (page 227)
This reminds me of a David Allen quote. He is the author of ‘Getting Things Done’.
“Your mind is for having ideas not holding them.” - David Allen
Tiago Forte has an entire system that he breaks down in the book.
He shares how taking notes helped him solve his own health problem.
He talks about how notes can help us share our thoughts/ideas with the friends, colleagues, the world.
I left the book with 60 key takeaways, 8 new vocabulary words, 17 quotes, and 3 books to look up.
Are you a note-taker? Digital? Paper? Both?
